THE PICTURE HOUSE

A cultural icon, near and dear to the hearts and minds of moviegoers, the 1921 Picture House is ready to be restored, renovated, and transformed into a state of the art film and education center, one that will make a significant and positive impact on Westchester County and the Bronx. The Picture House has a two-part mission…

GREAT FILMS…
In the newly restored Picture House, audiences will see commercial art, independent films, and documentaries from around the world. In addition, they will see curated programs consisting of new and classic films, revivals and retrospectives, and festival fare. The Picture House will invite known and emerging filmmakers to share their work. Film and Media experts will participate in special post-screening panels and discussions. With a Film Advisory Board composed of industry leaders, the Picture House has the relationships necessary to secure great films and the talent associated with them.  Through our series, Conversations with Peter Travers, Picture House audiences have already experienced a taste of things to come with interactive preview evenings featuring Tom Cruise, Sean Penn, Michael Douglas, and George Clooney among other major talents.

AND FILM EDUCATION
At the Picture House, we believe in the power of movies to change peoples’ lives for the better.  For that reason, we have a growing Education Advisory Board focused on providing people across our region with the opportunity to experience the art of cinema in a whole new way. K-12 school children will see and discuss great films in an educational context, with their teachers and classmates. They will get an inside look at the art, science and business of film from filmmakers and other industry professionals. Hosting school groups and youth groups from regional community centers, the Picture House will show films that children and adults won’t see at the local multiplex and will provide a forum to learn and talk about film in ways that illuminate all aspects of cinematic art.
