BUILDING ON THE PAST TO CREATE A FUTURE

For more than 80 years, the Pelham Picture House has been a part of the southern Westchester community. From the silent movies of the 1920s to the technology-laden blockbusters of today, the Picture House has been a barometer of the world around us. Surviving change after change, the Picture House was adapted for "the talkies," struggled through the depression and became a source of news from the front during World War II, all while providing an oasis of entertainment for the surrounding communities. Now the Picture House is about to make another change: it will become a state-of-the-art film and educational center. A CULTURAL ANCHOR FOR THE 21ST CENTURY

Under the direction of the architectural firm of Davis Brody Bond, the renovation and expansion of the existing facility thoughtfully integrates the old and the new. Plans include a 250-seat theater in the original auditorium and two smaller theaters added at the back of the property. Plans also provide for a studio/editing room for instructional purposes plus state-of-the art sound and projection systems. A proposed addition along the Brookside Avenue side of the building will create a transparent, open public space for seminars and cinema events. Clearly visible from the street this addition will bring vibrancy to the downtown village streetscape. LOCATION
The Picture House Regional Film Center, at 175 Wolfs Lane in Pelham, NY, is conveniently located in Southern Westchester County, just 17 miles from midtown Manhattan. The Picture House is also convenient to the Northern Bronx, Southern Fairfield Connecticut and Manhattan.
