A Good Film Never Ends
At the Picture House, we believe that a good film never ends--it begins something: a valuable exchange of thoughts and ideas. With the coming renovation this summer, the Picture House will not only be a great place to view films, but also a place where a sense of community can be felt and meaningful dialogue can be exchanged. Our programming vision is to deliver a variety of interesting, challenging and entertaining films, and provide an alternative to the generic, multiplex theater experience. These include newly released commercial art, independent, global, documentary, anime/animation and retrospective films from past decades. Cultural and Family Content
As a resource to its diverse community, we provide cultural content with event-driven film festivals and series, including international films, emerging directors, and cinema with socioeconomic and political subject matter; shorts (both live action and animated) and early works from new or established directors and award winners. Among our many annual programs, we host the Westchester Italian Film Festival and our series include the Reel Insider which exhibits the best in new independent and foreign films, Sunday Essentials, our series of classic films from 1930-1990, and Family Flicks for kids and their parents.

Notable Guest Speakers
New York City is a major hub for the film industry and being that it’s among the world’s top cultural destinations, the Picture House draws on the region’s professionals for world-class events. Notable film critics, filmmakers and actors regularly stop by for discussions to provide our audience with an in-depth understanding. Recent guests include actors George Clooney, Sean Penn, Michael Douglas, Richard Gere, established filmmakers Ron Howard, Stephen Frears, Scott Hicks, emerging talent such as Duncan Jones, Sophie Barthes, Tze Chun and film critics David Edelstein, Owen Gleiberman, Peter Travers and Caryn James.
