A Good Film Never Ends
At The Picture House, we believe that a good film never ends--it begins something: a valuable exchange of thoughts and ideas. The Picture House will not only be a great place to view films, but also a place where the magic and glamour of film can be experienced. Our programming vision is to deliver a variety of interesting, challenging and entertaining but accessible films, and provide an alternative to the multiplex theater experience. These include newly released commercial art, independent, global, documentary, anime/animation and retrospective films from past decades.
Interactive Programming
To set us apart, interactive programming will enhance the film viewing experience by fostering discussion, dialogue and debate. Recognizing that New York City is second to Los Angeles as a Film Production Center, we will capitalize on that close proximity to New York City by drawing upon the region's professionals (i.e., directors, actors and journalists) to host regularly scheduled lectures, panel discussions and workshops. Interactive events will give you a chance to look behind the scenes of the filmmaking process by engaging with actors, directors, writers and filmmakers.
Cultural and Family Content
As a resource to its diverse community, the Film Center will provide cultural content with event-driven film festivals and series, including ethnic films, emerging directors, and cinema with socio, economic and political messages; shorts (both live action and animated) and early works from new or established directors and award winners. Family and children's programming will include matinees, late night features for teens/hipsters of all ages and daytime programs for seniors and fanatics (and unemployed artists).
