The Lost Bus (Q&A With Leading Actress Kate Wharton)

Q&A to follow the film with Pelham Native and Actress Kate Wharton. A determined father risks everything to rescue a dedicated teacher and her students from a raging wildfire. Kate Wharton, PMHS ’96, will appear as Jen Kissoon, a fire chief, in The Lost Bus starring Matthew McConaughey and America Ferrera. The film dramatizes the real-life story of a school bus driver and teacher who guided 22 children to safety during the 2018 Camp Fire in Northern California that claimed 85 lives and destroyed more than 18,000 structures. The Lost Bus premiered at the Toronto Film Festival and is appearing in select theaters on September 19 and streaming on October 3 on Apple TV+. Kate was a graduate of Pelham Memorial High School in 1996, then UC Berkeley, and was a US Forest Service helicopter wildland firefighter for two seasons in Northern and Southern California. She has appeared in multiple films and TV shows including The Bold and the Beautiful (CBS), Unbelievable (Netflix), and The Fosters (ABC). She lives in Los Angeles.DramaPT2H9MR2025-10-02
